SUMMARY: The Tomball Bobcats (1-0) traveled to San Antonio to play the Do’ville Tigers (0-1). Coming off a week 1 win against the Broncos generated high hopes of a 2-0 start for the season. However, the evening got off to an ominous start for the Bobcats as they fumbled on the first offensive play of the game. Fortunately for Tomball, their defensive front was able to contain Do’ville to a 3 and out. The success of the defense was short lived as on the very next possession Tomball’s offense once again resulted in a turnover, but this time it was returned 50 yards for a Tigers touchdown. Tomball’s defense would, however stop the 2pt conversion making the score 6-0 Do’ville. With the Bobcats unable to get anything going, the Tigers were able to extend their lead very quickly with a 72-yard touchdown pass off a screen play, putting Do’ville up 12-0.
It appeared a long night was in store for the stalling Bobcats until defensive stand out, #8 Dee Watson, was able to intercept the Tigers pass and return it 78 yards for a touchdown. The PAT by #13, Shamus Donahue brought the score to 7-12. Tomball’s defense feeling fired up from the last series once again came through with another interception by #3, Levy Noel. However, Tomball was not able to capitalize on the turnover. After several back and forth drives, the Bobcat’s would allow another turnover, this time with Do’ville returning an interception 65 yards for the score and increasing the lead 18-7 Tigers. Tomball was down, but not out generating a score again in the 3rd quarter with a 17-yard touchdown strike from Quarterback, #1 Rich Allen to standout receiver, #14 Derek Santee.
The contest was a game of miscues, and poor special team’s execution on what could have been for the Bobcats as they were unable to connect on 3 FG attempts and 2 PATs. The final score ended with Do’ville 26-19 over Tomball. Tomball’s offense was held to only 79 total yards, while Tomball’s defense allowed what would have been a great effort with only 146 yards total. Unfortunately, the turnovers were too much to overcome. The Bobcats are looking to rebound as they travel to Clute, TX next week to play the Hard Hitter’s.
