BOBCATS BUILDING STEAM FOR 2017

D.Santee shows the way

SCRIMMAGE TWO SUMMARY:The Tomball Bobcats began their 2017 pre-season schedule with a 14-0 victory over the San Antonio Hurricanes. Tomball hoping to build off of last year's success and playoff run have brought back several key personnel while adding exciting talent.

With both teams struggling to find an offensive rhythm, The Bobcats and Hurricanes play a stout defensive battle during the first quarter. However, the hurricanes offense didn't sleep long as they drove deep into the Bobcats redzone on two early possessions, but the Tomball defense shut down their momentum and left them scoreless. The Bobcats offense were able to jump on the board late in the second quarter with a deep pass from #2 Mike Kee (QB) to #3 Derrick Santee (WR). After another quick defensive stand, Kee was at it again, only this time connecting with #15 Archie Jackson (WR) for another quick Bobcats Touchdown. Check out the highlights below (stats are being updated):

Things would stall again throughout the second half as both teams made adjustments and a defensive battle played out. As expected in pre-season play, the Bobcats coaching staff made many in game substitutions to get a look at the tremendous amount of talent on the roster this season, and to keep risk of injury low.

The Bobcats offense was led by Mike Kee who was efficient going 10/18 for 156 yds, with 2 TD's, and 0 INT's. Tomball's stable of talented running backs pounded 91 yards on 29 carries for a 3.14 average. Major contributions came from new-comers, #5 Rene Fernandez (RB) and #27 Craig Bean (RB) while veteran RB #33 Earl "Munchie" Nixon saw limited snaps. Much credit goes to the Bobcats O-line for their blocking performance allowing only 1 sack (fumbled snap). The top receiver for the game was Derrick Santee 4 receptions for 118 yards. Tomball's curtain defense held San Antonio to just 117 yards of total offense, including 2 INT's and 9 sacks overall. #12 Julius McMillan (LB) lead the team with 6 tackles. #40 Emanuel Ayres (LB) also had a solid game with 5 tackles (4 sacks, FF, FR). #24 CJ Blackwood (FS) provided serious run support with 5 tackles from the backfield, and #21 Jalen Richards (CB), along with #11 Jeremy Moody (CB) each with INT's to help seal the deal.

The Bobcats remain very optimistic about the upcoming season opening up the regular season play on February 18th at home against the Blazin Bullz. See the game page HERE, or view our full schedule HERE!
