WEEK ONE: The Tomball Bobcats enter their 4th season as they come off a productive 9-2 season going 2 rounds into the 2016 playoffs. The Channelview Blazin' Bullz are looking to make a statement as the enter into their first inaugural season with the Texas United Football Association (TUFA) League.
SUMMARY: The Tomball Bobcats began the 2017 regular season with a solid victory over the Blazin Bullz Saturday night. Tomball kicked off the game quickly with a 57 yard pass from QB #6 Mike Kee to standout receiver #3 Derrick Santee, just one of three to Santee for the night, to give the Bobcats the lead. The extra point was put through the uprights by kicker, #13 Shamus Donahoe to top off a 7-0 lead for the Bobcats! Tomball's defense came out determined to set the tone of the game. A wild snap on the Bullz second play, recovered by #44 Haji Fahnbulleh, put Tomball in great position to take a commanding lead early in this contest. Mike Kee connected once again with Derrick Santee on a short crossing route at the 30, but it was all Santee after that, making his way over and through defenders for another touchdown!
Still only the first quarter, the Bobcats were in the groove and the defense followed up with no less an outstanding performance as they routed the next series for the Bullz. They found themselves 3rd and 25 on their own 19 yard line, but another bad snap put the ball in the endzone and the Bullz had no choice but to take the safety making the score 16-0 to finish off the 1st quarter.
The Bobcats kept their foot on the gas as they quickly added another score in the second quarter with Kee’s 10 yard pass connecting this time to wide out #9 Robert Robinson, who would elude the defender and take it to the house from the 40. The Bullz seemed to be falling apart, but found a way to hold it together as late in the second quarter they worked their way into the redzone where Bullz quarter back #1 was able to connect with WR #11 through tight coverage to bring the score at halftime to 29-6.
The Bobcats came out in the second half with a goal to continue to make a statement that they are a force to be reckoned with. After another great stop by Tomball's Defense lead by Defensive End #94 Charles Woods, who would end the night with 5.5 tackles-4.5 sacks and defensive TD off a blocked punt by #44 Haji Fahnbulleh, the Bobcats were positioned to run away with the game. Then on a fluke scamble, Tomball's QB Mike Kee went down with an injury and would not return. From that point, the momentum of the game took a turn and the Bullz were able to construct a remarkable comeback. They battled back into the game with scores on each of their following two possessions. QB #1 connected for two more touchdowns before it was over, and the defense would add one score with a return following a forced fumble. Bobcats back-up QB Brandon Dingo Wilson stepped up to the plate and was able to score one more touchdown and put the game away in a thrilling 35-26 win over the Channelview Blazin Bullz.
